Helpful Hints:--
Use "Sell" Your School to the Class lesson as second part to this lesson. If you choose to do so, inform
students early in the process in order to gather the most appropriate
information.
Assign students the specific colleges or careers before
coming to class to save time and to insure a variety of choices are
researched.
Activities:
- Students login using their User ID and Password and go
to their Locker where they will see the colleges they
previously selected.
- Counselor assigns students two of the colleges from their
Locker or allows students to
select two colleges. Depending on the popularity of certain schools, the
counselor may want to make sure that no school will be presented more
than two or three times.
- Students gather appropriate data from the categories in the Career
or College Details pages and input the data on the College/Career Information Collection Worksheet.
Some categories in the College Details pages include: School Description, Admissions, Curriculum, Student Body, Student
Life, Cost/Financial Aid, or the school's WWW site.
Evaluation:
The completed
College/Career Information Collection Worksheet.
Possible Adaptations:
Students work in groups of common colleges or careers. If groups are
used, expand the scope of the information required by the
group.
